There’s an island off the coast of Maine that’s not on any modern map.

Shrouded in mist and protected by a deadly reef, Trespass Island is home to a community of people who guard the island and its secrets from outsiders. Seventeen-year-old Delia grew up in Kansas, but has come here in search of her family and answers to her questions: Why didn’t her mother ever talk about Trespass Island? Why did she fear the open water? But Delia’s not welcome and soon finds herself enmeshed in a frightening and supernatural world where ancient Greek symbols adorn the buildings and secret ceremonies take place on the beach at night.

Sean Gunn, a handsome young lobsterman, befriends Delia and seems willing to risk his life to protect her. But it’s Jax, the coldly elusive young man she meets at the water’s edge, who finally makes Delia understand the real dangers of life on the island. Delia is going to have to fight to survive. Because there are monsters here. And no one ever leaves Trespass alive.

MAURISSA GUIBORD writes fiction for young adults who love the same kind of story she does: mysterious, romantic, and with a touch of humor.

Over the past few days I've pretty much hated everything I read. Both review books for Crossroad Reviews as well as ones via my TBR. I just didn't grab anything that didn't suck! Now in my defense it seemed for the most part I wasn't alone. When I looked up the books it seemed that everyone hated it as well for the same reasons I did.

Well that all stopped when I started this one.  I had gotten this via a giveaway from a site ages ago and just not got it off my TBR. I can tell you that this book blew me away! The story was ripe with mystery and I just couldn't put it down!  I read this one in tech. two days, and it really needs a book two. I want to know more about these characters and their or in this case their island.  This book starts out with us meeting Delia she is trying to get to this island to see her grandmother that doesn't know she's coming.  Her mother died if I remember correctly around 5-6 months ago and she has been tossed around social services for that time period.  Well she realized that she had family so she talked her case worker into allowing her to come see her grams for the summer.  I think the start of this book worked out great.  It got the story moving so much faster than if we would have started out when her mom died or right after.  Once she got on the island that is when all the mystery really starts to happen and I just couldn't put it down.

The world that these people live in really reminds me of a cult but better.  No is really being killed off if you know what I mean.  Things are not what they appear on Trespass Island and neither is Delia. The characters in this story were great!  Each one seemed pretty well formed and I didn't hate anyone. I do wish we would have gotten more time with some of them. And maybe a little less of others.  But the characters were wonderful in this story and everyone played their part.

The story/plot itself was also wonderful I really loved how the creatures and mythology played a part in this one.  It was a great new take on this world and well I have a soft spot for anything dealing with greek mythos especially anything dealing with Hekate which she does make a reference in this story.

Everything blended so well the romance, mystery, story, and characters. It is a must read for this reader and I really want a book two!
